Real-estate A lawsuit Tips: Peaceful Title Steps along with Foreclosures

Calm title actions inside Florida are special for the reason that your California Rule associated with Municipal Method does not enable a true house lawyer to obtain a fall behind judgment in a legal action.

What Is A Peaceful Name Legal action?

Real estate property attorneys provide quiet name legal cases as a way to solve differences over title coming from all as well as section of real property, which includes neighbor border quarrels. These kind of law suits doubles to take care of blunders in a very home's sequence of name, despite the fact that there may not a question on the ownership of the property.

An Attorney May Not Seek Default Wisdom In the Motion.

However, numerous real estate property lawsuits lawyers and also most judges are unaware of essential regarding Rule associated with Municipal Procedure that the judge might not get into the go into default wisdom in a very court action. As an alternative, legal court need to carry a new experiencing to listen for statement california real estate lawyer in connection with circumstance. Rule involving City Procedure part 764.010 claims, simply, in which "The courtroom will examine into and figure out the actual complaintant's title from the statements of all offenders. The judge will certainly not type in common sense automatically however will in every case require proof of complaintant's subject and hear these kinds of proof as could possibly be presented respecting the particular boasts of any in the offenders."

Simply because several most judges don't know this provision, it is obligatory about the real estate law firm to notify your test the courtroom in which this kind of hearing is needed.

Any Defaulting Accused Can always Look For A Default Hearing In the Peaceful Subject Court action.

Moreover, inside a the latest California The courtroom regarding Attractiveness taking over, your appellate the courtroom held how the basic vocabulary of the law permits a opponent to participate inside the hearing, even though that opponent have not made an appearance in the event. Throughout Harbor Windows vista, LLC versus. HSBC Home loan Solutions, Incorporated. (Next year WL 6318525 California.Application. Fourth Dist. The new year), the actual appellate court docket placed that the test courtroom didn't have the ability to type in a fall behind common sense in a case and, moreover, that law obligated the judge to carry the evidentiary hearing inside available the courtroom by which equally plaintiff and defendant might get involved.

"The Legislature have not left almost anything to the imagination with regards to no matter whether a trial courtroom can key in a new go delinquent judgment in the motion. 'The courtroom shall not really key in wisdom through default' can be unequivocal," explained your appellate the courtroom. "Once a judgment upon virtually any coffee grounds turns into final, it's great contrary to the earth as of enough time of the view. There is, for all those sensible reasons, no returning to college. In the frequency which activities include actual property-which is known as unique-it can be easy to understand that the Legislature may wish to consider every safety measure to make sure title is adjudicated properly. These kinds of safeguards may realistically include permitting any opponent having a number of claim they can the property to present evidence, even though many experts have dilatory in responding in advance."

Quiet Subject Default Hearings Need a Reading Throughout Available Courtroom

The particular appellate court in addition regarded as whether the uses in the words and phrases "hear" or even "hearing" call for dental debate. Though additional instances have discovered until this might not be the case, legal court in this case held a judgment requires a experiencing within open court docket.

In the event the judge keeps an adequately noticed evidentiary listening to with no defendant appears, then the court provides wisdom according to the data along with the law depending on just what it has before that.

Victims mourned, remembered for their sacrifices in Aurora

Family and friends of the victims of the Aurora shooting attended funeral services this weekend.

By Amanda Lee Myers,?Associated Press / July 29, 2012

Samantha Yowler, right, is comforted by relatives Friday at Maiden Lane Church of God in Springfield, Ohio. Yowler was shot in the leg on July 20, in Aurora, Colo., as her boyfriend, Springfield native Matt McQuinn shielded her from the gunman. McQuinn was one of 12 who died in the shooting, which injured 58.

A man who saved his girlfriend's life at the Colorado movie shooting was remembered for his selfless sacrifice Saturday, while an aspiring sportscaster was praised for her boundless energy and an Air Force reservist as a good friend.

The girlfriend who Matt McQuinn saved by taking three bullets aimed at her wept as pastors spoke of the senselessness of the shooting spree at the suburban Denver theater where 12 people were killed just more than a week ago.

Mourners packed a church in this western Ohio town where McQuinn came from, while family and friends gathered in San Antonio on the same day to remember Jessica Ghawi and a private funeral service was held at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colo., for Staff Sgt. Jesse Childress.

More funerals are set for next week.

When gunfire broke out in the Aurora theater, McQuinn, 27, dove in front of his girlfriend, Samantha Yowler, and was shot three times.

Yowler, who was shot in the knee and survived, arrived at McQuinn's funeral on crutches Saturday and wept quietly with his parents and other family during the funeral. Neither she nor his parents addressed mourners at the Maiden Lane Church of God.

Pastor Herb Shaffer, who is also McQuinn's uncle, said his nephew had been a gift to his family since he was born, and that his actions in Colorado were just one example of his selflessness.

McQuinn called his mother three times the day before she had surgery because he was upset that he couldn't be there in person, Shaffer said. When he was just 7, he put his arm around his younger cousin because he was worried she wasn't having a good day, he said.

Then he talked about McQuinn's greatest sacrifice of all, saving Yowler, whom Shaffer described as the love of his nephew's life.

"In moments of crisis, true character comes out," he said. "His immediate response was to protect the woman he loved."

"Matt's death is a sudden loss, one that has produced many questions in your minds," Pastor Dan Fiorini said. "I know you're asking in your heart of hearts, why? Why was Matt there? Why was a gunman allowed to enter that theater? Why was he able to purchase guns and ammunition so easily? Why didn't God do something?"

Fiorini said he couldn't answer any of those questions.

"We can wrestle with the whys of this tragedy for eternity and never come up with an answer," he said.

Shaffer told mourners that the shooting forever changed them.

"Our lives will never be the same," he said. "The words Aurora, Cinema 16 shooting, Batman, will never mean the same thing, and we'll be reminded of Matt every time we hear them."

Men With Prostate Cancer More Likely to Die from Other Causes ...

Reporter: Prabodh Kandala, PhD

Men diagnosed with prostate cancer are less likely to die from the disease than from largely preventable conditions such as heart disease, according to a new study from Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH). It is the largest study to date that looks at causes of death among men with prostate cancer, and suggests that encouraging healthy lifestyle changes should play an important role in prostate cancer management.

Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed form of cancer, affecting one in six men during their lifetime. While incidence of prostate cancer has greatly increased in the United States, Sweden, and other Western countries in recent decades, the likelihood that a newly diagnosed man in these countries will die from the disease has declined. The researchers attribute this to the widespread use of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, which has resulted in a higher proportion of men diagnosed with lower-risk forms of the disease.

The researchers examined causes of death among prostate cancer cases recorded in the U.S. Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (over 490,000 men from 1973 to 2008) and the nationwide Swedish Cancer and Cause of Death registries (over 210,000 men from 1961 to 2008).

The results showed that during the study period, prostate cancer accounted for 52% of all reported deaths in Sweden and 30% of reported deaths in the United States among men with prostate cancer; however, only 35% of Swedish men and 16% of U.S. men diagnosed with prostate cancer died from this disease. In both populations, the risk of prostate cancer-specific death declined, while the risk of death from heart disease and non-prostate cancer remained constant. The five-year cumulative incidence of death from prostate cancer was 29% in Sweden and 11% in the United States.

Death rates from prostate cancer varied by age and calendar year of diagnosis, with the highest number of deaths from the disease among men diagnosed at older ages and those diagnosed in the earlier years of the surveys (especially in the years before the introduction of PSA screening).

After shooting: Obama, Romney speak as parents

WASHINGTON (AP) ? For a day, at least, President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney stopped assailing each other and spoke as heartbroken parents.

The movie theater massacre upended the presidential campaign on Friday, obliging both candidates to cast aside the increasingly bitter tone of the race and reach for a rare moment of American harmony. Yet the moment itself was a political test, for a president charged with consoling a nation and for a challenger needing to show that he could rise to the occasion.

"There are going to be other days for politics," Obama said from one key electoral state, Florida. From another one, New Hampshire, Romney said much the same.

It was more than an unusual case of agreement between the political foes. At times, they sounded just like each other, speaking of evil and of prayer, of the unfulfilled dreams of those killed, of the need to put aside daily and petty grievances to appreciate life and show compassion to others.

The president openly wondered of his 14-year-old and 11-year-old daughters: "What if Malia and Sasha had been in the theater?"

Addressing a crowd that had gathered for what was expected to be a raucous political rally, he said somberly, "Michelle and I will be fortunate enough to hug our girls a little tighter tonight, and I'm sure you will do the same with your children."

Likewise, Romney said to his audience, "Each one of us will hold our kids a little closer." He said, "I stand before you today not as a man running for office, but as a father and grandfather, a husband, an American."

Amid their calls for unity and prayer, both men said nothing of gun control, a polarizing issue that has been all but absent from the campaign debate this year. Both Romney and Obama have shifted with the times, moving away from stances that favored tougher gun control laws.

The issue may rise anew.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a gun control advocate, said, "You know, soothing words are nice, but maybe it's time that the two people who want to be president of the United States stand up and tell us what they are going to do about it. ... Instead of the two people ? President Obama and Gov. Romney ? talking in broad things about they want to make the world a better place, OK, tell us how."

On Friday, Obama and Romney swiftly stripped their day of overt campaigning that surely would have seemed crass given the enormity of the tragedy. They scrambled to yank all their television spots, attack ads or otherwise, from Colorado stations ? though strongly critical ads continued elsewhere ? and both campaigns pulled their top surrogates off the politically driven talk shows this Sunday.

Nothing else mattered as the country absorbed the news that a man opened fire on people watching the new Batman movie in an Aurora, Colo., theater outside Denver. Twelve people were killed and dozens more were wounded by a suspect said to be using an assault rifle, a shotgun and a handgun in the attack.

"If there's anything to take away from this tragedy, it's the reminder that life is very fragile," Obama said in Fort Myers, Fla.

"What matters at the end of the day is not the small things, it's not the trivial things, which so often consume us and our daily lives," Obama said. "Ultimately, it's how we choose to treat one another and how we love another. It's what we do on a daily basis to give our lives meaning, to give our lives purpose."

Romney spoke outside a Bow, N.H., business, at a podium stripped of campaign paraphernalia, in front of a large American flag. He set a tone by saying that he and his wife, Ann, joined Obama and first lady Michelle Obama in offering condolences to those whose lives had been shattered.

"This is a time for each of us to look into our hearts and remember how much we love one another, and how much we love and how much we care for our great country," he said.

In Florida, Obama was notified at dawn about the shootings. He canceled a second Florida event and came back to the White House, immediately getting an Oval Office briefing about the investigation. The U.S. flag at the White House was lowered to half-staff, and Obama ordered similar action at all federal facilities.

Obama telephoned Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates and told him to expect full support from the FBI and other federal law enforcement agencies.

It was unclear whether, after the first shock, the episode would inject the volatile issue of gun rights into the election debate.

Twenty years ago, polls showed that a substantial majority ? nearly 80 percent in 1990 ? supported stricter limits on guns. Now Americans appear evenly divided between those who want tougher restrictions and those who want to stick with current laws.

As a U.S. senator, Obama voted to leave gun makers and dealers open to civil lawsuits, and as an Illinois state lawmaker he supported a ban on all forms of semiautomatic weapons and tighter state restrictions generally on firearms. Romney backed some gun control measures when he was governor of Massachusetts, and when he challenged Sen. Edward Kennedy in 1994 he declared, "I don't line up with the NRA."

This spring, competing for the Republican presidential nomination, Romney told the NRA he was a guardian of the Second Amendment.

Following last year's killing of six people and the wounding of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Ariz., Obama called for a series of steps to "keep those irresponsible, law-breaking few from getting their hands on a gun in the first place."

Among those steps was a better background check system. And White House spokesman Jay Carney said Friday that system has improved.

But the administration has offered no legislation or detailed updates about how it is pursuing the president's previous promises.

"The president believes that we need to take common-sense measures that protect Second Amendment rights of Americans, while ensuring that those who should not have guns under existing law do not get them," Carney said.

Others, including Mayor Bloomberg, were looking for more specificity. The question is simple, he said in a radio interview: "What are they going to do about guns?"

The Effective Direct Mail Marketing Strategy

?

One of the most effective marketing strategies which have ever been devised is Direct mail Marketing. The invention of the Internet made way for numerous marketing strategies to be created. Some of the most popular strategies include web advertising, search engine optimization, and video advertising. However, nothing can be as great as print ads which are being e-mailed to various consumers.?

?

Every day, millions of people around the world start their day by opening their e-mail accounts. Would not it be great if these individuals could be reached by companies the moment they open their inboxes? Advertisement through television and radio might be great and popular. However, it is still ideal to connect to potential consumers through email marketing. This marketing strategy is very simple yet it offers effective results.?

?

Direct mail marketing services are regularly offered online. These services are very ideal for businessmen and CEOs who really want to expand their business. ?These companies know how to use print ads effectively so that their clients could benefit from print marketing. They do their best to create valid and catch emails that would be appreciated by the potential consumers. These emails are not like the ones that are sent to the trash once seen by would-be customers. These companies offer email marketing campaigns which could greatly promote the products and the services of their clients. Some of the Print Ads services that they offer include promotional announcements, high quality message copyrighting, and social media integration.?

?

A lot of business establishments have already benefited from Direct mail marketing. Once they have obtained marketing services from various advertising companies, all they experienced is an improvement in their business status. This phenomenon is very easy to understand. If businessmen would be able to reach out a wider scope of potential customers, there chances of getting huge revenues are really great. For example, one thousand customers have been contacted through Direct mail marketing. All of those customers might not decide to buy the featured product or service, but there would always be some who will give in to the commercial offers. Even if just fifty percent of those potential customers respond positively to the emails, companies would still receive about five hundred customers. If businessmen want to increase the amount of their customers, they should definitely increase their target market.?

?

The benefits of online marketing are numerous. Reaching out to potential customers through online means is effective because they are actually free. Companies do not really have to pay for advertisements on televisions and radios. All they have to do is to send numerous e-mails and they will start experiencing improvements in their businesses.?

A win for 'secularists' in Libya? It's not what you think.

This week, so-called 'secularists' were declared official winners in Libya's parliamentary elections ? and yet they support a constitutional place for Islamic sharia values. This seeming contradiction in Libya belies Western stereotypes about the incompatibility of Islam and democracy.

By Amyn B. Sajoo / July 19, 2012

An anti-Qaddafi fighter takes part in a demonstration in Benghazi June 7 to demand the application of Islamic law, or sharia, in Libya. Op-ed contributor Amyn B. Sajoo says: 'That Islam and rights can coexist in the minds of so many Muslims is a hard lesson for those clinging to stereotypes.... There is a price to pay for the lazy assumption that tolerance and pluralism are strictly secular virtues.'

Esam Al-Fetori/Reuters

Vancouver, British Columbia

Official results for parliamentary elections released in Libya this week show the winners to be the so-called ?secularists? ? the National Forces Alliance. This group has led the interim government in Tripoli since last year?s revolution toppled Muammar Qaddafi.

The outcome seems to run counter to the rise of Islamism in the Arab Spring. Or does it?

True, Mahmoud Jibril, the alliance?s leader, is a US-trained political scientist who did much to garner Western support for the Libyan uprising. Yet one of the first public pronouncements of the newly-elected National Forces Alliance was to disavow the ?secular liberal? label that the mainstream media have eagerly bestowed on them ? and affirm a constitutional place for Islamic sharia values.?

This seeming contradiction in Libya belies Western stereotypes about the incompatibility of Islam and democracy ? that a constitutional role for religion in public life can only curtail individual freedoms, especially for women and minorities. That is not how many Muslims think.

Consider, for instance, a Gallup report released last month. Polling focused on sharia and gender and was taken after the Arab Spring. Islamists had electoral successes in Egypt and Tunisia, and strong majorities of both women and men in those countries ? as well as in Libya and Yemen ? want sharia as a source of law. Men and women in Syria are less enthusiastic, though 49 percent of both still favor at least some influence of sharia on law. In Egypt, Libya, and Yemen, many people favor it as the only source of legislation.

Perhaps more surprising to outsiders: Men who regard themselves as ?religious? are more willing to recognize a woman?s right to divorce than those who aren?t. Robust majorities support equal rights for women. Bahrain, which has yet to embrace democracy, leads the pack, with 94 percent of women and 87 percent of men endorsing gender equality.

That Islam and rights can coexist in the minds of so many Muslims is a hard lesson for those clinging to stereotypes. They will insist that the road to equal citizenship ?? especially for women and minorities ? rests on a firmly secular constitutionalism. After all, wasn?t that the global map of political modernity? Aren?t liberalism and human rights about putting religion in its private zone?

Indeed, most of the Middle East became officially secular after European colonial rule. Libya, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen had socialist governments much like Egypt under Nasser, with little time for religion. Tunisia had a secular political history comparable to Turkey?s.

Women enjoyed explicit guarantees of equal status under those constitutions. So in many cases did minorities such as Coptic Christians and Jews. Women and minorities became part of the ideological profile of autocratic states that were otherwise illiberal. But the basis for these rights had everything to do with political expediency, and little to do with pluralist citizenship.

Travel Management?Your Key To A Successful Business Trip ...

Travelling is essential in any kind of business. It helps a company to expand, obtain additional information and gain more clients. Employees and officials, especially those with high positions, often need to travel to another city or country to attend seminars, deal with clients and visit expansion sites for the company.

Unlike leisure trips, corporate travel can be more challenging. Delays and failures are not welcome particularly if you?re planning to meet with a potential customer or business partner. So before going on a business trip, you have to learn proper travel management. You do not want to incur unnecessary costs for the company, but rather achieve the highest gains from a particular trip you?re going to undertake.

Basic Things To Consider When Going On Business Trips

Everything you will need for the trip must be prepared beforehand. Travel documents, reservations for airfare and hotels, as well as your detailed itinerary are among the most essential things you need to arrange. Your itinerary should contain precise travel schedules and locations.

The right estimate of spending for the trip must also be considered. The money to be used is part of the company?s funds which should be spent wisely. When you send your people on futile and costly business trips, it might lead to great losses on the part of the company eventually. Thus, it is really important to ensure effective travel management for the company?s trips.

The Role Of Travel Agencies

You can engage the services of a corporate travel company or agency, which has the expertise in managing business-related travels. Travel agencies can effectively manage your trip by providing you with a comprehensive itinerary as well as necessary reservations. Therefore, you can maximize the business trip that your employees will undertake. And because you now have a competent partner to manage your travel needs, you can concentrate more on your goal, which is strengthening your business.

(AP) ? Pilot and murder suspect Brian Hedglin knew how to fly planes. He just needed access to one.

Turns out, it was as easy as using a rug to scale a razor wire-topped security fence at a small Utah airport in the middle of night, slipping past security, boarding an idle, empty 50-passenger SkyWest Airlines jet and revving up the engines.

He crashed the plane in a parking lot and shot himself in the head, never getting off the ground. But the incident has raised concerns that nation's airports may not be as safe as they should be.

The Transportation Security Administration doesn't require airports to maintain fulltime surveillance of their perimeter fences, leaving airport security largely in the hands of individual facilities.

At least one aviation security expert says it might be time to revisit those protocols.

"Maybe we need to implement some more levels of perimeter security because any type of security incident like this is a lesson to both the good guys and the bad guys. They read the papers just as much as we do," said Jeff Price, an aviation security expert and aviation professor at the Metropolitan State University of Denver.

The former assistant security director at Denver International Airport said that even after Hedglin gained access to the airfield early Tuesday, he shouldn't have been able to get aboard the plane.

"It should have been locked and secured if it wasn't in use," Price said.

TSA spokeswoman Jonella Culmer said the agency is "currently reviewing perimeter compliance" at the St. George Municipal Airport, which is about 120 miles northeast of Las Vegas.

City spokesman Marc Mortenson noted the airport is surrounded by six miles of perimeter fencing.

Local authorities were investigating the breach, but Mortenson said the facility meets all Federal Aviation Administration and TSA security requirements. He said, however, the entire perimeter isn't observed at all times, "and I would dare say it isn't at any airport in the country."

SkyWest spokeswoman Marissa Snow said Hedglin was a pilot for the airline since 2005 but had been on administrative leave since July 13, the day police found the body of his girlfriend, Christina Cornejo, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Authorities say she had been stabbed multiple times. Hedglin was the key suspect but he hadn't been charged.

Colorado Springs police said they asked SkyWest to deactivate his access cards in case he showed up at the airline anywhere in the country. How the 40-year-old was able to gain access to the plane remained unclear.

The Gazette of Colorado Springs, citing court records, reported that Hedglin dated Cornejo for four years and was arrested in March after he was accused of harassing her.

The records show that a restraining order was issued against Hedglin, and he was set for trial in August. He was released on $10,000 bond.

Attorney Steven Rodemer, who represented Hedglin in that case, said he was facing misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, theft and harassment, but felony charges were dismissed Thursday.

Rodemer said he hadn't seen Hedglin since their last court date that day.

A police officer making rounds at the airport early Tuesday found a motorcycle with the engine running outside the perimeter fence, Mortenson said. As he searched for the owner, the officer came upon the idling plane and called SkyWest.

The airline sent an employee to turn off the engine. Inside, Hedglin was found with a gunshot wound to his head.

Snow noted that an inexperienced person could not have operated the plane, but she did not explain how Hedglin got aboard. "It involves sophisticated procedures and requires an extensive amount of training to even know how to start the plane," she said.

"If you defeat one layer of security, there are supposed to be other layers in place to prevent criminal or terrorist attacks," Price said. "Today, perimeter security at airports, it's just a fence. They're not required to have intrusion protection systems, and they're not required to have closed circuit TV to monitor the fence because the current level of risk doesn't warrant it.

"But maybe that needs to be looked at," he added.

Hedglin was a member of the Colorado National Guard, where he was a part-time soldier who worked as a cook. He had no specialized military training and was never deployed, Capt. Darin Overstreet said.

SkyWest officials said the CRJ200 plane Hedglin stole was not in service at the time. The aircraft is made by Bombardier and is capable of flying up to 534 mph with a range of 1,700 miles. Normally it has a two-person flight crew and a single flight attendant.

A dozen flights leave or arrive at the St. George airport each weekday, according to the airport's website. Most run between southern Utah and Salt Lake City, with two flights connecting St. George and Los Angeles.

Internet marketing lets any business reach a wide audience of potential customers. You?d probably be hard pressed to find someone who doesn?t use the Internet these days. As technology advances so does the necessity for internet marketing. Many people don?t even realize they are viewing ads, due to the subtle nature of internet marketing techniques.

Inspire confidence in your products by offering a guarantee that you will return a customer?s money if they are not satisfied. This will result in your customers feeling more secure and give you and your business credibility. Customers will be more likely to trust you if you take all the risk out of their purchases.

Get feedback at every stage. This is important because if you have one view of your website and your customers have a different view, your website will not be successful. Gain feedback from possible customers, family members and friends. Use this advice to help you decide what to change in your marketing campaign.

A frequently-asked questions page (FAQ) makes an excellent model for your Internet marketing content. For common questions, share a thoughtful answer. Write the questions so that your products are the answers without making it look like obvious product placement.

Are you searching for ways to market your business online? If your customers have a viable reason to give their email, they will. This in turn will grow your email list. Offer them a freebie or a chance to enter a contest if they will let you send marketing emails to them. People are much more likely to give you their personal email addresses if there is possibly something in it for them!

Try using captions with your images. Search engines always look at the text surrounding a picture to see if the image is relevant to what the person is searching for. With good captions on your images, your site can raise in search engine rankings.

A 500-error page is helpful and user-friendly. Visitors will see this page when something goes haywire with your site?s automated database code. You do not want to let users see a generic page that just says the connection was timed out. Instead, inform your visitors that you are working on a fix to their problem using a more creative webpage message that fits the format of your site.

If you have a place on your site people can comment, it might help you market your products. If customers review your niche on your site, this will drum up new sales and also increase your Internet presence with more keywords.

Do you offer a reward system for people who regularly buy your products? It is extremely valuable to hold on to the customers that you already have, and your outward generosity will speak volumes about your company. Your customers will spread the news about your business through word of mouth if you build a reputation for being loyal and generous.

Contemplate the various methods you are interested in using in your web design efforts. Free or relatively inexpensive ways to advertise your site include hanging posters in community businesses, using social networking sites, or posting on blogs. There are lots of ways to attract visitors to your site. Creativity is key when trying to gain customers.

If you want people to come to your website instead of your competition?s, you need to give them something original. Try drawing cartoons that relate to your website or product, or providing an e-book full of useful information. You can create an excellent hook for your market site by offering propriety merchandise that is not available on any other website.

Give your customers a variety of specials to choose from at the check-out page. You could showcase items that are half off if customers spend over a certain dollar amount, for example. It is a great way to clear out surplus inventory and increase sales, while letting the customer feel that he is getting a bonus.

Make sure that you maximize the quality of third-party security with transactions. There are many trusted, impartial services. VeriSign and McAffee are two such services. Though good security costs money, it is a necessary part of any good and safe business.

Marketing through the Internet makes it simple for businesses to target market certain niche areas of the population. This is a good way to ensure that your budget is only directed towards the type of customers you are trying to attract. It?s also easy to gauge whether the advertisement is effective or not. The Internet is the best place for any business to spend their advertising money.

The Cargo Cult of Business Credit ? G2Link Risk Management ...

written by G2 Blogger - Leave a reply

Business Credit

That Won?t Fly

The state of B2B credit today can be compared to the cargo cults of the post World War II pacific islanders.? Like these cults, the large credit bureaus and financial institutions are trying to predict the future by recreating the circumstances of the past and forcing modern businesses to perform their ?sad obsolete rituals.

The?John Frum Cult, located on the South Pacific island of Vanuatu, ?is a modern remnant of the ?Cargo Cult? phenomenon. ?These cults sprung up when technologically advanced western cultures?exposed themselves to the native islanders.? The natives, upon seeing the inexplicable technology and vast amounts of supplies brought in by the militaries of the United States and Japan attributed these achievements to magic or divine origin.

Once the war ended and the militaries withdrew, the natives began creating rituals that mimicked the behavior of the occupying militaries.? They would stage parades, build runways, coconut radios and even airplanes made from palm trees in an attempt to conjure up the fantastic amounts of men, supplies and the miracle of flight.? Sadly for them, short of another war, nothing they do will replicate the unique set of circumstances they witnessed in the 1940?s.? Even today, the John Frum Cult (?Hello, I?m John from America?) has a ceremony every year on February 15th to celebrate their new god in the hope of his return.

Unfortunately, the business credit industry is enacting similarly obsolete rituals.? Here are a few examples.

  1. ?Check Credit.? It costs a lot to check a company?s credit and in most cases the data isn?t accurate, timely or correlated with any company?s long term viability or ability to pay.? This is especially true for small and medium businesses.? Furthermore, business failure is a process and not an event.? In order to understand the true risk of entering into a business relationship you need to monitor viability vs. check credit.
  2. Reporting Credit.? It costs a lot of money to report on a company, good or bad.? The quality of a report is dependent on collecting ALL of the data on a particular company.? These fees are a negative incentive to participation and reduce the quality of the overall data.
  3. Data Integration.? It costs a FORTUNE to integrate real time with the large business credit bureaus.? This is an additional blockage to free data and skews the existing data toward the outcomes of the larger integrations:? telecom, utilities etc.

At G2Link, we are trying to stamp out the cult by making the data open, free and peer generated. ??With our service you can check credit free of charge, rate companies and monitor all of your key business relationships.

Clinton warns Iran after talks in Jerusalem

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Washington would use "all elements of its power" to prevent Iran going nuclear and was working in "close consultation" with Israel over how to do so.

And she said a resumption of talks between Israel and the Palestinians would only come about if the parties "do the hard work for peace."

Speaking to reporters at the end of a whirlwind 24-hour visit to Jerusalem, Clinton said that Iran not yet decided to curb its nuclear ambitions, and warned that Washington would stop at nothing to prevent it from getting a nuclear bomb.

"We will use all elements of American power to prevent Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon," she said in remarks which carried an implied threat of military action -- a course of action never ruled out by Washington.

Thanks to US efforts to rally the international community to tackle the Iranian nuclear threat, Tehran was "under greater pressure than ever before," Clinton said, indicating that the Obama administration was "pressing forward in close consultation with Israel."

"I think it is fair to say we are on the same page at this moment, trying to figure our way forward to have the maximum impact on affecting the decisions that Iran makes," Clinton said.

Clinton arrived in Israel late on Sunday at the tail end of a nine-nation tour, holding talks with top officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres, Defence Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

Although Israel has warned a nuclear Iran would pose an existential threat to the Jewish state and has refused to rule out a military strike on its nuclear facilities, Peres expressed confidence in Washington's tough stance on Tehran.

"I think the coalition we have built, and the measures you have taken are beginning to have their impact... they are the right start," he told Clinton.

"We appreciate very much your position. We trust its depth and dedication and determination and we feel partners of this coalition."

The US diplomat also briefed the Israelis on her talks with Egypt's new Islamist President Mohamed Morsi and sought to reassure them that the new Cairo administration had reaffirmed support for the peace treaty which she said had "served as a backbone for regional stability for more than three decades."

There has been some concern in Israel that Morsi, who emerged out of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood, might seek to renegotiate the treaty.

Clinton said: "The amount of work ahead of this Egyptian government would be daunting for the most experienced leaders. The economy is in desperate need of reform.

"The political system is a work in progress, a long way from being finalised. There are serious fissures within society that have to be addressed."

In talks with Peres, Clinton updated him on "the latest developments and the approaches of the new Egyptian leadership, and stressed the importance of strengthening the relations between Israel and Egypt," the president's office said.

The stalled peace process was also high on the agenda, with Clinton reportedly telling Israel that Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas and his prime minister Salam Fayyad were the best peace partners Israel could have, the website of Haaretz newspaper reported, quoting an Israeli official at the talks.

And she also reportedly pushed Israel to make gestures to strengthen the Palestinian leader, Israeli press reports said.

But ultimately, a return to peace talks would be dependent on "hard work" by the two parties, she told reporters at a late-night press conference.

"So our goal remains an independent Palestinian state living in peace and security alongside a secure Jewish democratic state of Israel."

"We remain focused on the resumption of direct negotiations since we believe that is the only route to a lasting stable peace. The international community can help ... we stand ready to do so, to help support an environment for talks but it's up to the parties to do the hard work for peace," she said.

"To those who say the timing isn't right, the other side has to move first, or the trust just isn't there, I say: peace won't wait and the responsibility falls on all of us to keep pressing forward."

She also met with Fayyad in Jerusalem, describing their meeting as "excellent" and saying the Palestinian premier had briefed her on "the challenges that the Palestinian Authority faces and what the United States can do to support them."

Ahead of his dinner meeting with Clinton, Netanyahu thanked her for helping shore up Israel's ties with Egypt and said he was keen to hear about her talks with President Morsi in Cairo.

He also said the two would discuss ways to break the deadlock in peace talks with the Palestinians.

Direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians have been frozen for nearly two years following an intractable dispute over Jewish settlement building.

The Jerusalem visit came at the end of a 13-day tour of nine countries, with Clinton departing for Washington on a flight which took off shortly after midnight.

<strong>"Castle," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> This show's ratings have definitely suffered without "Dancing With the Stars" airing beforehand, but it is a consistent performer. And now that Castle and Beckett's relationship is evolving, a fifth season of "oh yes they will" is a no-brainer.

  • "Charlie's Angels"

<strong>"Charlie's Angels," ABC</strong> <br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Not really a shock for anybody, but "Charlie's Angels" is cooked. Flimsy story, bad remake, questionable casting.

  • "Cougar Town"

<strong>"Cougar Town," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed -- for TBS!<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The Season 3 ratings weren't boosted much by holding this show until midseason, but ABC's wonky air schedule also didn't help ... which is why the news that TBS has picked up the show for a fourth season is huge. Cheers with your Big Carl!

  • "Dancing With the Stars"

<strong>"Dancing With the Stars," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> "DWTS" may have lost its luster in the ratings, but if the viewers are still coming.

  • "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23"

<strong>"Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> ABC's new bleep-worthy comedy starring Krysten Ritter, Dreama Walker and James Van Der Beek is a funny one, and definitely embraces the quirk (Beek Jeans!), so we're excited to see what they do with a second season.

  • "Desperate Housewives"

<strong>"Desperate Housewives," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> After countless deaths, murders, betrayals and natural disasters on Wisteria Lane over the show's eight seasons, the ladies of "Desperate Housewives" will say goodbye forever this May.

  • "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"

<strong>"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled <br /> <strong>Why:</strong> After a whopping nine seasons, the do-gooding show came to an end in January. But worry not, it will continue to have a few specials to make viewers cry tears of joy.

  • "GCB"

<strong>"GCB," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> This "Desperate Housewives"-esque dramedy premiered to less than 8 million viewers, and the phenomenal cast (Kristin Chenoweth, Annie Potts, Leslie Bibb) couldn't bring in a Texas-sized audience, so ABC canceled it.

  • "Grey's Anatomy"

<strong>"Grey's Anatomy," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Shonda Rhimes' medical drama is a ratings juggernaut, even in its eighth season, and with most of her <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/10/greys-anatomy-ellen-pompeo_n_1506113.html?ref=tv" target="_hplink">big stars signed on for more</a>, ABC gave the go-ahead for a ninth season.

  • "Happy Endings"

<strong>"Happy Endings," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> This show is way too "ca-yute" to bubble it, and obviously someone high up at ABC agrees. After its first season was moved around and aired all out of order, the network still gave it another chance to find its audience in Season 2 ... and it has, and hopefully will continue to in Season 3.

  • "Last Man Standing"

<strong>"Last Man Standing," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status: </strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Ratings for Tim Allen's return to sitcoms have been very strong, making it Tuesday's most-watched comedy. If you can beat "Glee" and "The Biggest Loser," a second season is a given.

  • "Man Up!"

    <strong>"Man Up!," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> ABC pulled the show after eight episodes.

  • "The Middle"

<strong>"The Middle," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Now in its third season, "The Middle" is still holding onto its middle position in the ratings on Wednesday nights, and that seems just about right. It doesn't do "American Idol" or "Survivor" numbers, of course, but with over 7 million viewers, it's a strong comedy for the network that easily beats anything NBC is offering.

  • "Missing"

<strong>"Missing," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Ashley Judd lead this drama about a former CIA agent whose son goes missing, kicking her back into action to find him. The series was only set to air 10 episodes, miniseries-style, with the potential for more, but a cancellation means that's all they're getting.

  • "Modern Family"

<strong>"Modern Family," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> "Modern Family" remains ABC's biggest sitcom success story of the last decade, both in ratings and awards love. This critical darling is getting a fourth season of hijinks with the hilarious Pritchett-Dunphy clan.

  • "Once Upon A Time"

<strong>"Once Upon A Time," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> "Once Upon a Time" has gotten praise for being one of the more family-friendly dramas on TV, and it's been pulling in close to 10 million viewers each week because of it. We're excited by the almost endless possibilities for new fairy tale-inspired stories to tackle in Season 2.

  • "Pan Am"

<strong>"Pan Am," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Poor "Pan Am" just never quite took off. The series' vintage look actually worked against it, much like NBC's swiftly canceled "Playboy Club" -- guess when you're being compared to award-winning shows like "Mad Men," it makes it more than a little tough to live up to the hype.

  • "Private Practice"

<strong>"Private Practice," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> "Private Practice" has never gotten "Grey's Anatomy"-level ratings, and things got shakier when ABC bumped it to Tuesday nights to make room for creator Shonda Rhimes' <em>other</em> new show, "Scandal," but they've given the show a sixth season order.

  • "Revenge"

<strong>"Revenge," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> With a clever mix of drama, mystery and serious revenge-ing, this is hands down one of the most addictive new shows on TV, and we can't wait to see where they take things in Season 2.

  • "The River"

<strong>"The River," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The promise of "Paranormal Activity"-like scares each week quickly fizzled after this show premiered, along with the ratings. The first season's eight episodes came and went, and ABC has nixed any plans for more.

  • "Scandal"

<strong>"Scandal," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Shonda Rhimes' latest show isn't about doctors at all -- and that's why we're glad it's sticking around. Kerry Washington is amazing as Olivia Pope, a Washington, D.C. fixer with a crack team of specialists helping make bad headlines vanish before they're ever written. Here's hoping for more than seven episodes in its second season.

  • "Shark Tank"

<strong>"Shark Tank," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Now in its third season, this reality competition show is unlike any other on network TV and ABC is keeping it around for more for that very reason.

  • "Suburgatory"

<strong>"Suburgatory," ABC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> It's smart, quick and not too cute -- "Suburgatory" is consistently named the sitcom you should be watching, but probably aren't. The great cast makes this one a no-brainer, and the ratings have stayed pretty consistent, too. We're thrilled it's getting a second season to shine!

  • "Work It"

    <strong>"Work It," ABC</strong> <br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled <br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Let us count the ways ...

  • "2 Broke Girls"

<strong>"2 Broke Girls," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why: </strong>At first, people balked at the racist supporting characters, but now it seems that audiences are all over "2 Broke Girls" -- it's ratings have seen a steady increase, and it won the People's Choice Award for Favorite New Comedy.

  • "A Gifted Man"

<strong>"A Gifted Man," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why: </strong>"A Gifted Man's" total viewer numbers were OK for a Friday night, but a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic is especially bad for CBS. Another bad sign: star Patrick Wilson tweeted about the end: "I had a great time. Thanks to my fans. So happy it's done." And done it is.

  • "The Amazing Race"

<strong>"The Amazing Race," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status: </strong>Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Voted the best reality show on TV several times (albeit years ago), "The Amazing Race" isn't going anywhere. Ratings have dropped a bit, but are still solid.

  • "The Big Bang Theory"

<strong>"The Big Bang Theory," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Nothing seems to be able to make a dent in this show. With fantastic ratings (it beat "Idol"!) and a rabid following, we'll be seeing plenty more "Big Bang" before its run is over.

  • "Blue Bloods"

<strong>"Blue Bloods," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed <br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The anchor of Friday nights on CBS, "Blue Bloods" has performed well, pulling in around 11 million viewers an episode. The show might not have the youngest audience, but it's still enough for CBS to keep it on the schedule.

  • "Criminal Minds"

<strong>"Criminal Minds," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Paget Brewster might be checking out, but "Criminal Minds" is here to stay. In Season 7, the procedural is still a consistently strong ratings performer for CBS.

  • "CSI"

<strong>"CSI," CBS</strong> <br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Whenever the time comes, the "CSI" mothership will end with a lot of fanfare, but not this year. With new faces Ted Danson and Elisabeth Shue around, there is going to be at least one more season.<br />

  • "CSI: Miami"

<strong>"CSI: Miami," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Out of the three (!) "CSI" programs on the air, "CSI: Miami" is the one to say goodbye first. The one-time ratings giant has been affected by football overruns (just as "The Good Wife" has) and "CSI: NY" has the edge in terms of total viewers, meaning a "Miami" sunset was inevitable. <br />

  • "CSI: NY"

<strong>"CSI: NY," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Of the two "CSI" spinoffs, "CSI: NY" is the stronger -- pulling in more than 10 million viewers on a Friday night is no easy task -- and with "CSI: Miami" canceled, "CSI: NY's" renewal was a no-brainer.

  • "The Good Wife"

<strong>"The Good Wife," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> This critical darling suffered after its move from Tuesdays to Sundays thanks to sports overruns. The viewers are frustrated, but given its strong cast and Emmy love, the show is still coming back for more.

  • "Hawaii Five-0"

    <strong>"Hawaii Five-0," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Despite the scheduling setback as Alex O'Loughlin seeks treatment, Season 2 is still doing well for CBS in a very competitive timeslot.<br />

  • "How To Be a Gentleman"

<strong>"How To Be A Gentleman," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Not even having "The Big Bang Theory" as a lead-in could save this David Hornsby project, which only lasted three episodes.

  • "How I Met Your Mother"

<strong>"How I Met Your Mother," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> CBS renewed "How I Met Your Mother" for two more seasons in March 2011, so fans can look forward to being strung along about the titular mother's identity for a bit longer.<br />

  • "The Mentalist"

<strong>"The Mentalist," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Although the show hit a season ratings low in the middle of February, its fanbase and overall ratings were enough to have it return for another season.

  • "Mike & Molly"

<strong>"Mike & Molly," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Thanks to an Emmy win and Oscar nomination, Melissa McCarthy is a Hollywood power player and CBS is keen to keep her around. Just look at the multiple pilots she has in the works as a behind the scenes player! "Mike & Molly" will be back for a third season.

  • "NCIS"

<strong>"NCIS," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The long-running procedural has become a ratings juggernaut at a time when most shows start shedding viewers. Season 10 is now happening.

  • "NCIS: Los Angeles"

<strong>"NCIS: Los Angeles," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong>Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> This show has gone up in the ratings over the last couple of years, and people can't get enough of L.L. Cool J and Chris O'Donnell.

  • "NYC 22"

<strong>"NYC 22," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> This "Rookie Blue" clone from executive producer Robert DeNiro didn't really move the needle when it premiered midseason; CBS officially axed it with three episodes left to air.

  • "Person of Interest"

<strong>"Person of Interest," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> With ratings matching juggernauts like "Grey's Anatomy" and fans popping up everywhere, we'll be seeing another season of "Person of Interest."

  • "Rob"

<strong>"Rob," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> "Rob's" spot after ratings juggernaut "The Big Bang Theory" probably went a long way in helping it survive to see the end of its first season, but that's as far as it'll get.

  • "Rules of Engagement"

<strong>"Rules of Engagement," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> This show has moved around so much it's hard to remember when it's on, and with six seasons under its belt it's had quite a nice run. Despite slipping ratings and the aforementioned constant switcheroos, there's still a future for "Rules of Engagement."

  • "Survivor"

<strong>"Survivor," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status: </strong>Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Of <em>course</em> we have "Survivor" coming back for another season. Where else are we going to see petty squabbles and insane behavior on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world?

  • "Two and a Half Men"

<strong>"Two and a Half Men," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Despite a less-than-favorable critical response, the revamped "Two and a Half Men" keeps pulling in respectable numbers every week. Ashton Kutcher, Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones will all return for a Season 10.

  • "Undercover Boss"

<strong>"Undercover Boss," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The inherent addictiveness of this show has gone a long way in securing loyal viewers -- it has been on top of the ratings several times this season alone.

  • "Unforgettable"

<strong>"Unforgettable," CBS</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Likely to be renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> In its timeslot, "Unforgettable" keeps emerging on top, beating out "Parenthood" and "Body of Proof." Leading lady Poppy Montgomery has been called "the female version of 'The Mentalist,'" another top-rated show, so things are looking positive.

  • "90210"

<strong>"90210," The CW</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> While its ratings have plummeted since last season, the Beverly Hills crew is still doing better than "Supernatural," "Hart of Dixie," "Nikita," and "Gossip Girl" on average.

  • "America's Next Top Model"

<strong>"America's Next Top Model," The CW<br /> Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Tyra Banks' reality show is in the early stages of its 18th cycle with a Brit vs. U.S. installment. Cycle 19 will be the show's inaugural "college edition."

  • "Gossip Girl"

<strong>"Gossip Girl," The CW</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Fans will get to say goodbye to the Upper East-Siders in a sixth and reportedly shortened final season.

  • "H8R"

<strong>"H8R," The CW</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Apparently, the opposite of MTV's former series "Fanatic" proved people don't love to hate Kim Kardashian and Snooki as much as we thought. It lasted four episodes.

  • "Hart of Dixie"

<strong>"Hart of Dixie," The CW</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Josh Schwartz and Rachel Bilson return for a sophomore season of "Hart of Dixie," hopefully so they can make more viral videos.

  • "Nikita"

<strong>"Nikita," The CW</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why: </strong>We're shocked the show is coming back for another season, but its hard-core fans will certainly be happy.

  • "One Tree Hill"

<strong>"One Tree Hill," The CW</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> After nine seasons, it's time to say goodbye to "One Tree Hill." After subpar ratings, the network decided to pull the plug on its long-standing teen soap. Thankfully, the CW gave "One Tree Hill" a final 13 episodes to wrap up all of the drama.

  • "Remodeled"

<strong>"Remodeled," The CW</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> As good as dead<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Not only has "Remodeled" already been replaced on the CW schedule, but it debuted with one of the CW's lowest-rated premiere ever, scoring a terrible 0.3 in the coveted 18-49 demo.

  • "Ringer"

    <strong>"Ringer," The CW</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Sarah Michelle Gellar's double-life proved too complicated and poorly-produced for viewers to care much about.

  • "The Secret Circle"

<strong>"The Secret Circle," The CW</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Somewhat of a surprising development given its decent ratings, but it never quite lived up to its lead-in, "The Vampire Diaries."

  • "Supernatural"

<strong>"Supernatural," The CW<br /> Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> This fan favorite will return, but time will tell if the cast wants a Season 8.

  • "The Vampire Diaries"

<strong>"The Vampire Diaries," The CW <br /> Status:</strong> Renewed <br /> <strong>Why:</strong> "Vampire Diaries" is The CW's golden child ... the vampires and witches and werewolves of Mystic Falls aren't going anywhere.

  • "Alcatraz"

<strong>"Alcatraz," Fox</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> "Alcatraz" -- and almost every other recent J.J. Abrams TV project -- proves that slapping "from J.J. Abrams" on a show does not equal ratings success. The series debuted strong, but fizzled in the ratings, leading Fox to pull the plug.

  • "Allen Gregory"

<strong>"Allen Gregory," Fox</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Jonah Hill's animated series only lasted seven episodes. The Oscar nominee should probably just stick to movies for a while ...

  • "American Dad"

<strong>"American Dad," Fox</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Fox gave out early renewals to "American Dad" and "The Cleveland Show," keeping its Sunday night animation block intact. <br />

  • "American Idol"

<strong>"Bob's Burgers," Fox</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Too soon to tell<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The sophomore season of this quirky animated comedy kicks off this month (Sun., Mar. 11), so don't expect to hear about a Season 3 just yet.<br />

  • "Bones"

<strong>"Bones," Fox</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed <br /> <strong>Why: </strong>The show got a ratings boost thanks to its lead-in "The X Factor." With the floundering state of Fox's dramas (see ya, "House"), Fox is holding on to this one.

  • "Breaking In"

<strong>"Breaking In," Fox</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why: </strong>After a last minute revival, "Breaking In" returned for a second season with Megan Mullally in tow, but it wasn't enough to revive this D.O.A. comedy.

  • "The Cleveland Show"

<strong>"The Cleveland Show," Fox</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Fox gave "The Cleveland Show" and "American Dad" early renewals and this spinoff will be back for a Season 4, but no word on a fifth season.<br />

  • "The Finder"

<strong>"The Finder," Fox</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> "The Finder" hit the benches for a bit before moving to Fridays, and the numbers never improved. • "Fringe"

<strong>"Fringe," Fox <br /> Status:</strong> Renewed <br /> <strong>Why:</strong> This fan favorite has struggled in the ratings, but Fox has agreed to give it a 13-episode order for a fifth and final season to wrap up all the mysteries of both universes.

  • "I Hate My Teenage Daughter"

<strong>"I Hate My Teenage Daughter," Fox</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why: </strong> As if getting panned by critics wasn't enough, "I Hate My Teenage Daughter's" shrinking ratings had the show marked for death, then Fox benched the sitcom for three months after only four episodes and then ... yep, buh-bye forever. No shock there.

  • "Mobbed"

<strong>"Mobbed," Fox <br /> Status:</strong> On the bubble <br /> <strong>Why:</strong> It started with a ratings bang, but things have only gone down from there for Fox's flash mob reality show with Howie Mandel at the helm. It's not on the schedule in any regular timeslot though, so it's possible they'll continue producing a few episodes a year.

  • "Napoleon Dynamite"

<strong>"Napoleon Dynamite," Fox <br /> Status:</strong> On the bubble<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> After a decent debut, "Napoleon Dynamite" dropped about half of its audience to about 4 million viewers per episode. It could go either way.<br />

  • "Q'Viva: The Chosen"

<strong>"Q'Viva: The Chosen," Fox</strong> <br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Too soon to tell/Not their call<br /> <strong>Why: </strong>Shortly after the Latin American-based show -- starring J. Lo and her ex-husband Marc Anthony -- debuted on Univision, Fox picked up an English-language version that debuted in early March. If the fanbase is still there, the cheaper production could save the show for another few seasons.

  • "Touch"

<strong>"Touch," Fox</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The Kiefer Sutherland drama had a sizable audience (about 12 million viewers) for its preview and has remained somewhat steady since its premiere. • "30 Rock"

<strong>"30 Rock," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong>"30 Rock" is showing its age, but the star power of Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin can't be denied -- NBC has renewed the show for a seventh and final season of 13 episodes.

<strong>"America's Got Talent," NBC <br /> Status:</strong> Likely to be renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> NBC's top-rated summer show is moving to New York for this upcoming season, but it's most likely not going anywhere. • "Are You There, Chelsea?"

<strong>"Are You There, Chelsea?," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> With just over 3 million viewers an episode, it wasn't not exactly a strong performer, even by NBC's standards. Even Chelsea Handler and NBC's fondness for funny ladies couldn't save this show.

  • "Awake"

<strong>"Awake," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled <br /> <strong>Why:</strong> "Awake" had gotten some great promotion, but its numbers were pretty middle of the road and only went down further -- genre shows with heavy serialized elements are always tricky.

  • "Bent"

<strong>"Bent," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled <br /> <strong>Why: </strong>The Amanda Peet comedy premiered in late March and had six episodes to prove itself, but NBC didn't give it much of a chance, airing them back-to-back.

  • "Best Friends Forever"

<strong>"Best Friends Forever," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong>Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The female buddy sitcom starring and co-created by Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham was yanked from the schedule and then axed for good.

<strong>"The Biggest Loser," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Likely to be renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> NBC's weight loss competition show has been around for years, and despite sagging overall ratings, its 18-49 rating (a recent episode got a 2.0) is still one of NBC's highest.

  • "Celebrity Apprentice"

<strong>"Celebrity Apprentice," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Likely to be renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Series low ratings probably won't kill this franchise. But are there any D-listers left who haven't competed for Donald Trump's approval?

  • "Chuck"

    <strong>"Chuck," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The Josh Schwartz spy dramedy ended its five-season run in January.

  • "Community"

<strong>"Community," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status: </strong>Renewed<br /> <strong>Why: </strong>Beloved by (a very vocal) few, ignored by many -- that's "Community" in a nutshell. After getting benched in January, "Community" returned to NBC's schedule with a vengeance, getting it a fourth season pick-up for 13 episodes to air on Fridays. Cool, cool, cool -- you can pop, pop! that champagne now.

  • "Fashion Star"

<strong>"Fashion Star," NBC</strong> <br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why: </strong>The high-style reality series with Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson, Elle Macpherson and John Varvatos has certainly been confusing, but it's still a smart business model: The winning designs each week are for sale in stores the next day, and those stores just happen to be covering a large portion of production and advertising costs.

  • "Fear Factor"

<strong>"Fear Factor," NBC <br /> Status:</strong> Likely to be renewed <br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Despite the donkey semen scandal that cut this season of "Fear Factor" a bit short, <a href="http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/12/13/fear-factor-returns-and-makes-a-ratings-splash/" target="_hplink">"Fear Factor" boosts NBC's ratings</a> ... and can a scandal really compete with that?

  • "The Firm"

<strong>"The Firm," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> As good as dead<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The show hasn't officially gotten the axe yet, but "The Firm" was moved to Saturdays after turning in an incredibly poor performance (less than a 1 rating in the 18-49 demo) on Thursday nights.

  • "Free Agents"

<strong>"Free Agents," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled <br /> <strong>Why:</strong> This show just didn't have much life in it. It was canceled after just four episodes, despite its awesome lead actors Hank Azaria and Kathryn Hahn.

  • "Grimm"

<strong>"Grimm," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The supernatural fairy tale drama has been doing well for NBC on Friday nights -- it hovers around the 5 million viewers mark, which is pretty solid by NBC standards and why the network gave the drama an early renewal.

  • "Harry's Law"

<strong>"Harry's Law," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong>Cancelled<br /> <strong>Why: </strong> While earlier this year "Harry's Law" was one of NBC's top players, after a three-month break between January and March, the Kathy Bates drama saw mediocre ratings and failed to hold on to viewers.

  • "Law & Order: SVU"

<strong>"Law & Order: SVU," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The only "Law & Order" left, "SVU" has been an NBC power player for 13 years and will return for a 14th.

  • "The Office"

<strong>"The Office," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> It's hard to imagine a long-running, fan-favorite show like "The Office" going away without a big promotional push. The numbers are still good (by NBC standards) and "The Office" will return for a Season 9.

  • "Parenthood"

<strong>"Parenthood," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The perpetual bubble show has done pretty consistent numbers for NBC this season, but three seasons in and no signs of growth is both a good and bad sign ... luckily for fans, NBC gave it a Season 4 all the same.

  • "Parks and Recreation"

<strong>"Parks and Recreation," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Just like the rest of NBC's Thursday comedy block, "Parks and Recreation" has serious ratings blues. Can critical acclaim keep "Parks" around for a Season 5? The answer is yes! "Parks" will return for Season 5.

  • "The Playboy Club"

<strong>"The Playboy Club," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Canceled<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Apparently fictional slutty bunnies and real-life homewrecker Eddie Cibrian do not a successful show make. It only lasted three episodes. "The Girls Next Door" did it better.

  • "Prime Suspect"

<strong>"Prime Suspect," NBC <br /> Status:</strong> Canceled <br /> <strong>Why:</strong> Maria Bello's gruff detective failed to capture the audience NBC hoped. At least we had all those hat jokes. <br />

  • "Smash"

<strong>"Smash," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed <br /> <strong>Why: </strong> After a huge promo blitz, "Smash" debuted nicely, but started losing viewers quickly. A handful of episodes in, it stabilized, becoming NBC's #1 drama in the 18-49 demo, and NBC announced it was getting a second season.

  • "Up All Night"

<strong>"Up All Night," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The critical favorite of NBC's new comedy offerings, "Up All Night" debuted strongly to more than 10 million viewers, but has since dropped to less than 4 million viewers an episode. It will return for a Season 2.

  • "Whitney"

<strong>"Whitney," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The show is one of the better performing freshman offerings on the Peacock network -- and NBC chief Bob Greenblatt told members of the press at TCA that he is "hopeful Whitney will be a long-term player for us." Looks like Season 2 is a good start, with the show moving to Friday nights.

  • "The Voice"

<strong>"The Voice," NBC</strong><br /> <strong>Status:</strong> Renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> We may not even be at Season 2's live shows yet, but NBC is already up for more of "The Voice." Hopefully, Cee Lo's cat "Purrfect" will return for Season 3 as well.

  • "Who Do You Think You Are?"

<strong>"Who Do You Think You Are?," NBC<br /> Status:</strong> Likely to be renewed<br /> <strong>Why:</strong> The celebrity-centric family tree series has helped NBC on Friday nights and hit its ratings high in March.
